Hi there, I’m Kate! 👋 I love designing, thinking, building, and telling stories. The funny part? I didn’t realize I loved any of it until much later. Here’s how I found my way to product design.

How I got here

People always called me “creative”. As a kid, that meant drawing, painting, and finding any excuse to start a new creative project. As I got older, that curiosity manifested itself into a BS in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Design & Interaction at UC San Diego, where I became fascinated by how thoughtful design can shape the way people experience technology.

After graduating, I took a detour into marketing at Weee!, and it ended up becoming one of the best things for my growth as a designer. I learned how to balance user needs with business goals, work cross-functionally, and make decisions backed by data instead of assumptions.

The biggest turning point came when I started building AI-powered internal tools to improve our team’s workflows. I found myself drawn to identifying friction, understanding why it existed, and designing systems that made work simpler and more intuitive.

That experience reinforced why I wanted to be a product designer in the first place. Today, I bring together creative thinking, business strategy, and a builder’s mindset to design products that solve real problems.
